Positive Images

Positive Images Project (Darlington)
Six 13 year-olds who were permanently excluded from school, decided to join forces and planned to produce a calendar showing positive images of Darlington and the good things that are happening where they live. They wanted their community to feel proud of Darlington. They all developed project planning skills and had to manage elements such as printing, editing, transport, using digital cameras for the first time and working together as a team and what professional support they needed. They also organised a public party to launch the completed calendar.

The group said the project helped them to be more hardworking, trustworthy and reliable. They enjoyed being more helpful to each other and felt better about living in Darlington. They hope that some of the pictures they took showing some poorer areas and issues may lead to some improvements being made as opposed to just talking about it.
