Quality Accreditation

Contented's learning programmes are designed, managed and moderated so that they support a range of quality accreditation for learners and organisations.

Quality accreditation helps projects perform and manage risk, and their partner organisations win contracts and build reputation. Companies are increasingly opting to have their corporate and social responsibility reports verified by external auditors and we can design your projects around this complex array of quality standards.

The following table indicates some of the main awards available for learning activities and providers. Contented works with trained advisors and assessors to design your programmes to help you meet the standards required to achieve these awards.

LEARNER ACCREDITATION (please scroll down to ORGANISATIONAL ACCREDITATION)

Contented's programmes focus on developing and accrediting Personal Learning & Thinking Skills, relevant to students in a wide range of contexts across the entire learning experience from Key Stage 3 onwards, including the new Diplomas. Primary Schools can follow ASDAN's Stepping Stones programme to support Y6/7 transition programmes. Students can earn GCSE and UCAS points through a range of qualifications, including ASDAN's Certificates of Personal Effectiveness and Community Volunteering, and credits towards most BTECs as well as the International Baccalaureate. Contented is an ASDAN centre and approved independent moderator, piloting the new Virtual Learning Environment launching in autumn 2008, enabling us to work with students remotely. This allows us to help design and accredit most extra-curricular activities such as employer-based training, enterprise days and out-of-school clubs.

ORGANISATIONAL ACCREDITATION

Ofsted – the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills – inspects and regulates care for children and young people, and education and training for learners of all ages, including professional adults (even MoD personnel). It brings together the wide experience of four inspectorates to achieve excellence for every child, and for all young people and adult learners, in England, with its Welsh partner, Estyn, and international students. Scotland is the responsibility of HM Inspector and Northern Ireland, its own Department of Education. The vision: that educational, economic and social well-being will promote our success as a country. Contented's programmes are reviewed by a part-time Oftsted inspector.

Contented works with the UK's master trainer in the de Bono tools, enabling us to help accredit de Bono thinking schools. Benefits include school management, literacy, exam preparation, independent learning and behaviour management.

Contented is part of a consortium leading the international Association of Sustainability Practitioners in designing and developing processes to accredit learning for sustainability in organisations.

Working with our Eco-Schools assessor, Contented can ensure that activities support progress towards Green Flag status in the Eco-Schools and Eco-Centres programmes. These awards can also count towards Extended Services quality frameworks.
There is a bewildering array of quality frameworks for learning provision in and around schools - local authorities generally have their own preferences. Our own programmes use QES and QiSS as a foundation, putting particular emphasis on planned, measured and reflective responses linking back to learning and achievement.

Quality in Play was developed by playwork practitioners and endorsed by Investors in Children, a national scheme developed by the government, but now superseded by the National Quality Improvement Network (NQIN), made up of representatives of local authorities and national organisations, supporting the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Investors in People UK aims to deliver continuous business improvement by developing tools enabling people management and development.

Investor in Careers, based on the Investor in People model, is a quality standard for the management of careers education and guidance (CEG) in schools and FE colleges.

Contented works with the police service via the Criminal Records Bureau to ensure all adults, including our own staff, as well as parent and business mentors, are safe to work with children and vulnerable adults. We are currently transferring our umbrella status from our sister organisation, held since 2002.
The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is the world's longest standing and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings, setting the standard for best practice in sustainable development.

EMAS - the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme - is a voluntary initiative designed to improve companies' environmental performance. It recognises and rewards those organisations that go beyond minimum legal compliance and continuously improve their environmental performance. Relevant legislation: European Council Regulation (EEC) No 1836/93 (replaced by Council Regulation 761/01); DoE Circular 2195; Welsh Office Circular 9/95.

Gaining an Artsmark shows that a school is committed to the wider development of young people. The scheme increases the status of the work of teachers within school and increases awareness of continuing professional development opportunities in the arts for all teachers. By offering public recognition of commitment to the arts by the school and its teachers, Artsmark raises the profile of the school and its arts provision in the local community.

NEBOSH

Our programmes are reviewed by advisors certified by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (Nebosh).
